Tina Jordan Rees is a musician, composer and dancer originally from Lancashire, England, now living in Glasgow, Scotland. She took dance classes from the age of five with the Blackburn School of Irish Dancing in Lancashire, and during her time at university she danced with Scoil Ui Ruirc in Limerick, Ireland, and the David Smith School in Glasgow.
She has performed across the world including Lorient Festival, in Russia at the 360th anniversary of the foundation of Rostov-on-Don and in Norway as part of the visit of the Irish ambassador in Oslo. Tina also plays the music for Irish dance competitions and has released two popular Irish dance music albums.
It was through dancing that Tina learned to play Irish and Scottish folk music which she now enjoys as her career, performing in an instrumental duo with Gráinne Brady, and as part of song band Top Floor Taivers. She was a nominee in the ‘Composer of the Year’ category at the 2014 MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
